Villa have been keen to act after the injury suffered by Emiliano Buendia and have zeroed in on Galatasaray’s Zaniolo.

The Turkish side rejected Aston Villa’s first proposal and were claimed to be clear about what they would need to let Zaniolo move on.

A solution appears to have been found and Aston Villa are now moving quickly to push the deal over the line.

Zaniolo has been scheduled for a medical check and will arrive in Birmingham on Wednesday.

Should he come through the checks without an issue then he will put pen to paper to a loan contract with the Premier League club.

An option to buy is likely to be included in the agreement, but the exact details around it remain unclear at present.

Zaniolo forced an exit from Roma in the winter transfer window earlier this year and came close to a Premier League move, with Bournemouth keen, before heading to Turkey with Galatasaray.
