Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad are pushing hard to bring in Salah and have extra wiggle room as, unlike in the Premier League, their transfer window does not close on Friday night.

They are prepared to pay Liverpool in excess of £100m for the 31-year-old, along with handing him a lucrative contract which could net him £1.5m per week.

Liverpool do not want to sell Salah, but Fjortoft revealed he has heard it is likely the forward will go this week.

The former Premier League hitman took to Twitter to write: “I understand it’s likely that Salah will leave Liverpool this week.”

Selling Salah would be a big call on the part of Liverpool and put the microscope on the club and their decision.

Liverpool are looking to return to the top four this season as well as challenge for the Premier League title and Salah is widely considered one of their top performers.

Losing the prolific Egyptian would be a big blow to the Reds and with little time left to replace him.
