Rangers saw a host of senior players leaving Ibrox in the summer and one of them was Kent, who left on a free transfer.

Michael Beale brought in several new faces this summer, but they have yet to convince the Gers supporters and former players.

McGinn thinks that everyone at the club knew that Kent would leave in the summer, but they failed to identify his successor at Ibrox.

The former Scottish top flight star admitted that the Rangers boss brought in players early in the summer transfer window but questioned whether the signings are as good as Sakala, who was sold.

“I am pretty sure everyone within the walls of Rangers knew that Ryan Kent was leaving so you could have prepared for the new Ryan Kent in the January and at the end of the season”, McGinn said on the Go Radio Football Show.

“We need these guys to have a great run so we need to identify someone who is equally as good as or better than Ryan Kent.

“He has brought players early and you are looking at these guys and thinking, are they even as good as Sakala, who was an excellent bit-part sub player for Rangers?

Sakala is now plying his trade in the Saudi Pro League and has hit the back of the net four times in just seven outings.
