Victor Orta’s exit from Leeds towards the end of last season left a hole in the club’s recruitment with the ownership also changing hands over the summer.

The new Leeds owners brought in Hammond on a short-term contract during the summer transfer window to act as a transfer consultant in the recruitment team.

He played a key role, alongside former head of recruitment at Celtic, Gary Penrice, in overhauling the Leeds squad after relegation from the Premier League.

Hammond’s contract expired at the end of the window but he has impressed the Leeds hierarchy.

Recent discussions have taken place over renewing his contract and keeping him around at Leeds for longer.

Talks are ongoing to keep Hammond at Leeds for at least the next two transfer windows.

As part of the deal, Penrice would also stay in his position to assist Leeds in the transfer market.
