The Magpies snapped Minteh up in the summer transfer window and sent him on loan for the season to Feyenoord in the Netherlands to continue his development.

Minteh is being handed regular game time chances by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot and was again in action in the weekend’s 4-0 win over Vitesse in the Eredivisie.

Ex-Aston Villa and Feyenoord man El Ahmadi though was not impressed with what he saw from Minteh and feels he is lacking on the technical side of his game.

He also believes that the Magpies star is too self-focused.

“I think he is missing a lot technically”, El Ahmadi said via Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur.

“Maybe he can improve a little or make better choices, but he now plays like a young boy who goes for his own success.”

Even so, El Ahmadi feels that Minteh can contribute to Feyenoord.

“If he is given a little more space, he can be dangerous.”

Eddie Howe will look to see Minteh being given more game time at Feyenoord over the coming months as he makes a judgement on when he will be ready to add to the Newcastle first team squad.
