Tonali is expected to receive a one-year ban for engaging in betting activity involving AC Milan when he was at the San Siro.

The midfielder was sold to Newcastle in the summer and his transgressions in Italy are set to follow him to England.

The Italian FA are set to announce the ban soon and will be applicable in England as well as per FIFA regulations.

There are claims that Newcastle are considering taking the Rossoneri to court for keeping them in the dark about Tonali’s gambling issues, but according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, AC Milan have had no contact with the Magpies.

AC Milan also feel that they have not done anything wrong with regards to Tonali when he was at the club.

The Serie A giants have denied having any knowledge of the player placing bets on AC Milan games to the prosecutors.

Newcastle made Tonali the statement of signing of the summer but are now likely to miss out on him for at least a year once the punishment is announced.
