Rangers are sitting third in Group C of the Europa League despite beating Real Betis earlier in the season.

They earned a point away at Sparta Prague under new boss Philippe Clement but need a win at home on Thursday night against the same opposition to give them a better chance of reaching the knockout rounds.

Ferguson stressed that given they will be playing at home, Rangers have to find a way to get three points and insisted that while good, Sparta Prague are not a great side.

He believes Rangers will be confident about themselves because of their recent form and the aggressive style of football they have been playing under Clement.

The Rangers legend said on the Go Radio Football Show: “I think it’s a game they have to win as you are at home in Europe.

“Prague are a good team but I don’t think they are a top team and Rangers are at home.

“And certainly, the confidence at this moment in time is got to be really high and I am sure they will take the game to them.

“They are playing in an aggressive manner, which I like to see as well, with plenty of energy about them and commitment.

“I’d imagine that Rangers will be confident of getting three points.”

Rangers are going into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over Hearts in the Scottish League Cup semi-final over the weekend.
