Leeds produced a statement result last Friday night when they beat runaway Championship leaders Leicester City 1-0 away from home.

The Whites are sitting third in the table but are firmly in the race to finish the top two and earn automatic promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Parkin stressed that the impact that Joe Rodon has had on the Leeds team at the heart of their defence could make his signing in the summer one of the pivotal moments of the campaign.

He also pointed out that Leeds are set to improve on their full-back areas when Junior Firpo and Djed Spence return from their injuries.

The former attacker conceded that he cannot spot too many weaknesses in the Leeds set-up at the moment.

Parkin said on the What The EFL Podcast: “The signing of Rodon could prove to be a really important moment for Leeds in their hope of getting promoted.

“That’s the area [full-backs] I have been concerned about from a Leeds perspective, but I didn’t see that the other night so that’s real credit for the way they shut down Leicester.

“They limited them to few chances and they are going to improve there.

“Firpo to possibly come back on the left and of course, Djed Spence to come back on the right – Leeds will be an even fuller package when those guys return.

“It’s difficult to see any weaknesses there.”

Leeds will be in action at Elland Road on Saturday when they host Plymouth Argyle in a Championship clash.
