A product of the Leeds academy, the Whites were forced to sell him to Sampdoria in 2018 in a bid to balance the books.

Vieira has taken time to make his presence felt at Sampdoria, having been out on loan, but is now a leader in the Serie B team owned by former Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani.

Leeds still have an interest in how Vieira progresses as they hold a ten per cent sell-on clause in him.

And Vieira is shining at the moment despite needing to play through the pain barrier as, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, he has discomfort with a bone in his right foot.

Vieira was offered the opportunity to go under the knife to fix the issue, which would have meant a three-month absence.

The former Leeds star snubbed surgery however in order to play his part in trying to get Sampdoria back to Serie A.

Sampdoria have work to do though as they sit in 16th spot in the Serie B standings with just ten points from 12 games.
