Poveda spent last term on loan at Blackburn Rovers and clocked regular game time, but many felt his future at Leeds could be in doubt.

The winger has knuckled down under Farke however and also kicked on at international level, with a recent call up to the Colombia team this month.

Poveda could force his way back into the Leeds squad against Ipswich Town this weekend and Farke admits that he likes what the winger has been showing on the training pitch.

He also feels that Poveda received a confidence boost from his involvement in the Colombian squad.

“Ian came back with a smile on his face, lots of confidence because he had good performances on this level”, Farke said in a press conference.

“He was also quite impressive during this training week.

“I like what he’s showing so far.

“Let’s see. We have two more days and he also has good chances to be back in the squad.”

Poveda will be looking to convince Farke to hand him a start over the busy Christmas period of games as he aims to make his mark under the Leeds boss.
