Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou personally called Timo Werner to sell a move to Spurs to him.

Werner is expected to complete a loan switch to Tottenham from RB Leipzig and the deal will contain an option for Spurs to sign him on a permanent basis.

Eyebrows have been raised in some quarters given Werner struggled in the Premier League while at Chelsea, but Postecoglou is confident about the German.

And, according to German daily the Lepiziger Volkszeitung, Postecoglou personally picked up the phone to Werner.

The Australian boss is claimed to have given Werner a good feeling, while he described his plans for the attacker and the position he would play.

Werner was impressed and is ready to head to Tottenham.

The move is a welcome one for RB Leipzig, with the striker on a lucrative contract but having struggled to make an impact this season.

Werner has scored twice in 14 outings for RB Leipzig this season and will look to get back into his groove in north London.
