Brendan Rodgers has played a major role in convincing Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn to join Celtic, which he is tipped to do next week, according to Football Scotland.

Rodgers has been pushing to bring in more new faces to his Celtic squad as he prepares to face the challenge of a resurgent Rangers in the latter half of the season.

The Celtic boss has been keen to add more creativity to his squad in the winter window, but progress on some signings has been slow.

Kuhn has been on Celtic’s radar this month and it seems the negotiations are moving towards the right direction.

It has been claimed that Celtic have pushed hard for the Rapid Vienna man, with Rodgers playing a key role in driving the deal by convincing the player.

The club are now close to working out a deal with Rapid Vienna for Kuhn’s arrival at Parkhead this month.

A final agreement is being worked upon but Celtic are expected to pay a fee of £2.8m for the winger’s signature.

Rapid Vienna are already at the stage of looking for a replacement.

Kuhn has scored two times and laid on five assists in the Austrian Bundesliga this season and is now expected to join the Scottish champions.
