Leeds United had concerns behind the scenes around Djed Spence’s behaviour before his loan was cut short earlier this month, according to The Athletic.

Spence joined Leeds on loan from Tottenham last summer in what was supposed to be a deal for the whole season.

However, the defender struggled with injuries and only made a handful of appearances before his loan deal was cut short earlier this month.

Tottenham were not expecting to have Spence back in January but Daniel Farke was not keen on keeping him for the rest of the season.

It has been claimed that other than his in-game performances, Leeds had other issues behind the scenes with the defender as well.

Farke and his coaching team were left unimpressed by Spence turning up late for some training sessions and team meetings.

The defender also failed to appear at an off field event which had been scheduled.

The club and Farke decided to let him go early despite not lining up a replacement for him.

Spurs have sent him out on to Italian club Genoa, who also have an option to make the move permanent.
