Aston Villa are set to allow goalkeeper Filip Marschall to join League Two promotion-chasers MK Dons on loan for the rest of the season, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The 20-year-old has been in and around the Aston Villa first-team since the start of the season and was on the bench for the Villans’ last match against Everton on Sunday.

However, there have been movements in the background and Marschall met MK Dons for talks last week.

It has now been decided that Marschall will indeed join the League Two side on loan for the remainder of the season.

Joining Mike Williamson’s side will allow the Dons to part ways with veteran goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray.

The 31-year-old will then be moved on to Stevenage and Marschall will replace him between the sticks.

Having played Europa Conference League football this season, Marschall will add valuable experience to the MK Dons team.

Marschall has been on the Aston Villa bench in the Premier League on ten occasions this season.

MK Dons currently occupy the final playoff spot in the League Two table, trailing automatic promotion contenders Mansfield by eight points.
