Sheffield United are haggling with Everton over the terms to loan defender Mason Holgate, according to the Sun.

Holgate is on loan at Southampton, but has struggled to feature under Russell Martin and his stint could be ended by the Toffees this month.

Sheffield United are keen on Holgate and the defender even travelled to complete a move on Friday before Everton’s late demand for a loan fee collapsed the switch.

The two clubs are still talking though and Sheffield United are haggling with Everton over the loan terms.

Chris Wilder continues to want Holgate adding to the ranks at Bramall Lane and the club are working on the deal.

Holgate is out of the picture at Everton under Sean Dyche.

Everton will want the majority of Holgate’s salary picking up by any club that loan him this month.

The defender is keen on heading to Sheffield United as he aims to play regularly during the second half of the season.
