Crystal Palace are making progress in their pursuit of Genk defender Daniel Munoz in the current winter transfer window, according to the South London Press.

Munoz has been a big target for Palace this month as they push to bring in defensive reinforcements for Roy Hodgson’s squad.

Negotiations between Crystal Palace and Genk have not been smooth with the Belgian side believing that the Eagles were not offering enough to get the deal over the line.

Munoz took matters into his own hands on Wednesday when he went on strike and refused to train with the Genk squad in order to force through a move.

The defender’s actions seem to have paid off and it has been claimed that the two clubs are now closer to reaching an agreement.

Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal to secure Munoz’s signature from the Belgian giants before next Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

The Eagles are hopeful of wrapping up a deal soon and taking Munoz to Selhurst Park in the coming days.

The defender has played 148 times for Genk since joining from Atletico Nacional in 2020.
