Cardiff City are putting in a strong push to beat Blackburn Rovers to the signature of Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Phillips spent the first half of the campaign plying his trade in Scotland at Celtic on loan from Liverpool.
He struggled to make a big impact at Celtic Park though and returned to Liverpool earlier this month, with a new loan exit expected.
It had looked as if Phillips would be heading for Blackburn on loan, but now the Ewood Park outfit are at real risk of missing out on him.
Blackburn’s Championship rivals Cardiff are now making a strong play to try to win the race for Phillips.
Cardiff hope to put better terms on the table and feel that could help to swing Phillips away from Blackburn and towards them.
The Bluebirds are admirers of the strong centre-back and are doing all they can to secure his services.
Liverpool will be keen to see Phillips playing regular first team football over the second half of the campaign.
