Crystal Palace are set to put Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton through a medical ahead of a proposed move, according to the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been one of Crystal Palace’s top targets in the ongoing winter transfer window.

Several Premier League clubs have their eyes on Wharton but they have been gun-shy in the winter window and Palace are hoping to take advantage.

Blackburn rejected Crystal Palace’s initial offer worth up to £18.5m and talks between the two clubs have continued.

And it has been claimed that a deal is now on the verge of completion with Wharton booked for a medical at Palace’s training base.

Crystal Palace were pushing hard to work out an agreement with the Championship side for Wharton’s signature and the negotiations picked up pace over the last 24 hours.

The Eagles believe that the teenager is a real talent who has a high ceiling and they are keen to have him at Selhurst Park.

Palace will now look to get the medical done and every formality sorted out for Wharton’s arrival ahead of the transfer window closing on Thursday night.
