Rangers legend Barry Ferguson is pleased with the confidence Gers new boy Oscar Cortes showed in his cameo appearance at the weekend.

The Glasgow giants signed the Colombian winger on loan from Lens towards the end of the winter transfer window.

Rangers also have an option to make the move permanent and Cortes made his debut for the club in their 3-0 win over Livingston at the weekend.

He came on for the last 30 minutes of the game and Ferguson admitted that it is good that the winger got a chance to play in front of the home fans on his debut.

The Rangers legend admitted that he has seen many a player struggle due to the expectations and demands of playing for the Glasgow giants but is pleased to see the confidence Cortes showed on his debut.

The former Rangers captain said on the Go Radio Football Show: “It was good for him to get those 30 minutes in front of the fans on Saturday.

“I have seen a lot of players come and freeze due to the demands and the expectations put on you.

“But he looked to me like a confident young man and hopefully, he will have a bright future at Rangers.”

It remains to be seen when Cortes will be handed a start by Gers boss Philippe Clement.
