Barry Ferguson has conceded that Rangers will consider selling Jack Butland in the summer if a club decide to match their valuation of the goalkeeper.

Rangers signed Butland on a free transfer last summer and he has been an absolute revelation in goal for the Glasgow giants this season.

He has been the undisputed number one between the sticks and there is now talk of him being in the England squad for next summer’s European Championship in the summer.

Rangers rejected overtures from Nottingham Forest for Butland in the winter window and stood firm on wanting to hold on to him.

However, Ferguson believes that the scenario could be different in the summer and Rangers could cash in on the goalkeeper if a club decide to match their asking price for him.

He stressed that Rangers must make sure that they have a quality replacement lined up if they decide to sell Butland.

The former Rangers captain said on the Go Radio Football Show: “Every player has got a price on their head and Rangers will have a price on Jack’s head.

“And if they come and meet that valuation, I think Rangers would look to do business.

“But the key thing is that they need to bring somebody in who is of the same quality to replace him.”

Butland has revived his career in Scotland and it remains to be seen if he is keen on a return to England in the summer.
