Daniel Farke has insisted that comparisons with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are too early for his Whites team as they have achieved nothing yet this season.

Leeds are sitting second in the Championship standings and are one of the favourites to get promoted to the Premier League this season.

A seven-game winning run has given rise to the hope that Leeds will earn automatic promotion rather than face the challenge of the playoffs.

Farke’s Leeds are being compared with Bielsa’s team that won the Championship in 2019/20 and finished in the top half of the Premier League in their first season back in the top tier.

The current Leeds manager is not too enthralled by the comparison as he stressed that his team are yet to achieve anything.

He pointed out that Bielsa’s team ended a long wait to reach the Premier League while his team are very much in the middle of a very competitive promotion race.

Farke said in a press conference: “It’s not a topic I really think about, the comparison doesn’t really help me.

“Our supporters are allowed to talk about this, we can compare and discuss.

“They have done a few years ago fantastically and brought it over the line after 46 games.

“We are just there after 32 games, if we don’t win any more points, we probably won’t finish in the top six.

“After 46 games we can talk about what we achieve.”

Leeds will hope to extend their winning run to eight games when they take on Plymouth Argyle away from home on Saturday.
