Leeds United legend Ian Harte has picked Manchester United legend Roy Keane as the best player he played with during his career.

Harte spent eight years at Leeds and made more than 200 league appearances for the club before leaving Elland Road in 2004 after they were relegated from the Premier League.

He is considered a Leeds great but he insisted that the best player he ever played with was Keane, who was captain of Whites’ fiercest and most hated rivals, Manchester United.

Harte was the international team-mate of Keane for Ireland and conceded that he absolutely loved the former Manchester United midfielder.

He insisted that his compatriot was probably the most demanding player he had ever seen, who wanted the best effort from his team-mates even during training.

When asked who is the best player he played with, Harte said on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: “I’ll probably say, Roy Keane.

“He was top, even in training. He demanded it in training.

“Loved him to bits.”

Harte played with a number of superb players at Leeds, including Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka, Anthony Yeboah and Robbie Fowler.

Keane won seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League amongst other honours at Manchester United.
