Newcastle United are interested in getting Julian Nagelsmann in the summer as the replacement for Eddie Howe, it has been claimed in Germany.
Howe’s Newcastle side have suffered this season after finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League last season.
The Magpies finished at the bottom of their Champions League group and the club are sitting tenth in the Premier League table at the moment.
Newcastle have continued to back Howe in public but it has been claimed that they are plotting to replace him in the summer.
According to the German magazine Sport Bild, Germany head coach Nagelsmann is the man they want as their new manager.
The former Bayern Munich boss is currently leading Germany ahead of the summer’s European Championship.
Despite his struggles in Bavaria, the 36-year-old remains a highly-rated coach in European football.
Newcastle are planning to convince him to move to St. James’ Park and replace Howe as their manager.
Nagelsmann is focused on Germany’s European Championship campaign at home for the movement.
He is still undecided on whether he wants to return to club management ahead of next season.
