Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has insisted that he has the ability to play in the best leagues in the world but for now, wants to focus on helping the Bhoys to win the double this season.

Lagerbielke has made just one league appearance since October and has made the squads for the Scottish Premiership games just twice in this particular time period.

The defender is down in the pecking order of defenders at Parkhead and Brendan Rodgers has chosen to play other options over him.

He almost left in the winter window and is expected to move on in the summer but the Swede wants to focus on the rest of the season and prove in training that he deserves to play.

The centre-back stressed that Celtic are in with a chance to win the double and he is focused on trying to play a part in getting the team to achieve their goals.

But he insisted that he has the quality to play in the top leagues and will review his situation in the summer.

Lagerbielke told Swedish daily Aftonbladet: “So right now, the focus is on training as well as possible and continuing to show that I deserve to play.

“We can still win the double as we are fighting with Rangers for the league title and still in the cup as well.

“So, there are two trophies to play for.

“I want to play and will do everything in my power to help the team.

“At the same time, I know that I can play in the best leagues, so it is a situation we will review after the season.”

If not for an injury to another Celtic defender, Lagerbielke would be currently on loan at Lecce and it remains to be seen if he will get a chance in the starting eleven for the Bhoys before the end of the season.
