Everton legend Leon Osman has admitted that Dominic Calvert-Lewin showed his best form in more than two seasons against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The Englishman scored in Everton’s 2-0 win over Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

It was Jurgen Klopp’s first defeat in a Merseyside derby at Goodison and Everton’s first win over their local rivals at home since 2010.

Calvert-Lewin was superb up front for the Toffees as he led the line and harried the Liverpool defenders with his physicality.

Osman thinks that it is the best he has seen the striker play for Everton in more than two seasons given his injury struggles in recent years.

He also admitted that the kind of support the forward has around him at the moment was missing for a few seasons.

The former Everton star said on Premier League Productions: “That’s the best I have seen Dominic Calvert-Lewin play in two-and-a-half seasons.

“I thought he was very good tonight.

“He had support tonight around him, which he can claim hasn’t been the case for a large period.”

The 27-year-old striker has scored just six times this season in the Premier League, but will hope to build on his performance against Liverpool and end the campaign well.
