Sheffield Wednesday are ‘not close’ to finalising a deal with Troyes for striker Ike Ugbo, with clubs such as Stoke City, QPR and Birmingham City lurking, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.
Ugbo spent last season on loan at two separate Championship clubs – first at Cardiff City and then at Sheffield Wednesday.
At Hillsborough, Ugbo played a key role in helping Danny Rohl’s side secure Championship survival at the end of the season.
He finished with eight goal contributions in 19 matches and is a top target for Rohl, with Ugbo also wanting the reunion.
However, Sheffield Wednesday are ‘not close’ to striking an agreement with Ugbo’s club side Troyes.
The Owls are not the only side keen on the striker, with other clubs also chasing him and likely to be encouraged Rohl’s side have not got a deal over the line.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals Stoke City and recently-relegated Birmingham City are interested, while QPR are also keen.
It now remains to be seen whether Sheffield Wednesday can break the deadlock in the coming days and weeks, or whether Ugbo opens up to his other suitors.
