Sunderland will announce the arrival of Sheffield Wednesday target Ian Poveda in ‘the coming hours’, according to Sky Sports News.

 

Poveda saw his contract at Leeds United come to an end this summer and has been considering his options.

 

The winger spent the second half of last term on loan at Hillsborough and played a part in Sheffield Wednesday surviving in the Championship.

 

 

Danny Rohl has been keen to bring Poveda back, but the Owls are losing out as he is set for Sunderland.

 

Poveda has been at Sunderland’s training ground and undergone a medical with the club.

 

 

With terms in place, the Black Cats are expected to announce his arrival in ‘the coming hours’.

 

Poveda joining will hand new Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris another weapon in the final third, as the club aim to improve their attacking output.

 

 

The winger flattered to deceive during his time on the books at Elland Road and Le Bris will be hoping he can get Poveda to live up to his potential at the Stadium of Light.
