Everton have confirmed that they have agreed a fee with Dutch side FC Twente for midfielder Leroy Fer.

The Toffees are moving quickly to bring the 23-year-old in before Thursday’s transfer deadline and are now set to fly Fer to Liverpool to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

Fer is a Holland international, with two caps for the Oranje, with his last appearance being in September last year, against Turkey.

The midfielder’s contract with Steve McClaren’s Twente runs until 2014 and he has featured regularly for the Tukkers this season.

Fer has played in 12 Eredivisie matches, while he also appeared in eight European games for Twente this season.

Most comfortable in central midfield, Fer will boost Everton manager David Moyes’ options during the second half of the campaign.

The Toffees are chasing a top four finish in the Premier League.
