Everton boss Roberto Martinez has explained that he feels a club’s home ground plays a big part in a team’s mindset as well as on the results produced.
The Toffees kick-off their 2013/14 campaign in the English Premier League against Norwich City at Carrow Road on 17th August.
The former Wigan Athletic boss starts his journey in the new season as Everton manager in the Goodison Park dugout on 24th August – when they host West Brom, who ended their league campaign last season with a dramatic comeback against Manchester United in a 5-5 draw.
Last season, the Blues suffered just a single defeat at home, and the Spaniard is keen to emulate that in his first season with the Merseyside outfit.

“I do feel Goodison Park plays a massive part on the running of the team and the results of the team”, Martinez told Everton TV.
“It’s there for everyone to see. Only one defeat at home last season in the Premier League is an incredible stat.
“It’s a feeling that Goodison Park develops and that is something we need to use as a massive, massive strength.”
The Blues go head to head with heavyweights Chelsea in their following home game on 14th September.
Martinez – who guided the Latics to their first ever FA Cup success last season – is nevertheless keen on achieving what former Everton manager David Moyes achieved at the club last season, but he is also intent on making sure that his men enjoy their campaign in the upcoming season.
“I’m really looking forward to doing that [having good home form] but, as always, it is about players and about them developing that enjoyment of representing their football club and making sure the fans are right behind them.
“That way we can become a very strong team and enjoy our football”, he added.
The Toffees finished sixth in the English top flight last season – above their Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
