Borussia Dortmund will aim to secure Ligue 1 star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a €14m deal after tabling an offer to Saint-Etienne, according to Le 10 Sport.

Dortmund are the latest in a long line of suitors for the talented striker, with Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Swansea City, Bayer Leverkusen, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain all having had their names mentioned in association with Aubameyang.

While the 24-year-old has already indicated his choice remains between England and Germany, Newcastle saw an €18m bid turned down by Saint-Etienne.

The reason is largely down to the striker’s desire to play Champions League football – with Swansea also being snubbed – and Dortmund have seized the opportunity to attempt a coup.

Last season’s Champions League finalists are understood to be promising bonuses on top of the €14m bid, and the player is also keen to join Jurgen Klopp’s team.

It remains to be seen if Leverkusen will consider the added interest from the Bundesliga and up the ante for a player who scored 19 goals and made 14 assists in 37 Ligue 1 games.

He almost single-handedly boosted the club’s European push in the league table, even if Saint-Etienne were handed a Europa League spot following their Coupe de la Ligue win.

Dortmund, meanwhile, will be extra keen on Aubameyang given they have lost Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich, as well as forward Daniel Ginczek to Nurnberg.
