Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has not yet given up on the possibility of signing Mohamed Salah from Basel, despite Chelsea appearing to have a deal done and dusted.

Rodgers has been chasing Salah throughout the transfer window, but Liverpool have struggled to agree a fee with Basel for the Egyptian.

Chelsea wasted no time on that front, quickly agreeing an £11m deal with the Swiss champions and pushing ahead to get a switch over the line.

Salah has yet to undergo a medical at Chelsea, or agree personal terms with the club, but Jose Mourinho has claimed the winger has already told him he wishes to move to Stamford Bridge.

For Rodgers though, all is not lost yet.

"The window is not closed yet so we haven't given up on him, no", he told the BBC.

"Salah was a player we're interested in and we hoped we could do a deal but as of yet there is nothing done on it."
