Kakuta is contracted at Chelsea until 2015, while he previously spent time at Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon and Vitesse.

Lazio are understood to have retained the purchase option for Kakuta, while Chelsea said in a statement: "Gael Kakuta has today (Friday) completed a loan move to Lazio until the end of the season.
