Thibaut Courtois won't return to Chelsea to play second fiddle to Petr Cech, his father has claimed.

The Belgium goalkeeper is currently in a third consecutive season-long loan with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho recently suggested that the arrangement will not be continued into a fourth year, meaning Courtois is expected back at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

For Thierry Courtois, that sounds perfectly fine, but not if his son is expected to warm the bench week in week out.

The goalkeeper's father told RTBF: "Jose Mourinho said he expected him at Chelsea, so we will negotiate his return to Chelsea.

"For now, we expect to discuss it with them.

"It is true that Petr Cech is there. So a combination with both is not possible.

"Switching between the two is possible on paper, but this is not what we want. This is not a situation we want.

"As of now, it is impossible that he goes to a club as the number 2. And the conclusion is also the same for Petr Cech.

"Thibaut also has a say."
