Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes that Manchester City have somewhat underachieved since their 2008 takeover by Sheikh Mansour.

Mourinho is well known for playing mind games and his comments are particularly significant on the eve of tonight's crucial Premier League encounter between the two teams.

Manchester City have managed to win one Premier League, in 2012, and one FA Cup, in 2011, since the takeover by Sheikh Mansour, a senior member of the Abu Dhabi ruling family.

"They won one title, won a couple of cups", Mourinho was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"The team is fantastic, the squad is fantastic and normally they [should] win more titles."

The club have spent more than £700m on transfers since the takeover, allowing the addition of world-class players like David Silva, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.

In spite of all these arrivals there hasn't been too much to cheer about in terms of their European campaigns.

The Sky Blues were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage in 2011/12 and 2012/13 and failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals in three seasons in the Europa League since 2008.
