Sheffield Wednesday have taken on Chelsea journeyman Sam Hutchinson on a one-month emergency loan deal.

Hutchinson had been on loan at Vitesse this season but returned in the winter, having made just the one Eredivisie and two cup appearances for them.

He will now link up with Wednesday until 12th March, with both teams confirming the news today.

The 24-year-old spent last season at Nottingham Forest, in a career that needed a temporary retirement owing to injury.

Hutchinson, a former England youth international, is deemed eligible to feature for the Owls in their FA Cup fifth-round tie against Charlton Athletic this weekend.

Despite having been contracted at Chelsea all his career, Hutchinson has just six first-team games to his name.

His move to Wednesday becomes the club's second acquisition for today, after they signed Blackburn Rovers striker Leon Best as well.
