Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has been ruled out for at least four weeks following a hamstring injury during the match against Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old was injured in the second minute of the Champions League match against the title holders, but continued untill half-time, after which he was replaced. Arsenal drew 1-1 on the night but were knocked out of the tournament on 3-1 aggregate.

Speaking to the club's official website manager Arsene Wenger had earlier said: "He's out. I don't know for how long but it is a hamstring injury. There are scans going on."

However, with scan reports received, Wenger will have to reorganise his plans by keeping the record summer signing out of his team strategy.

The Gunners, placed third in the league after Chelsea and LIverpool, have a tough run of fixtures ahead with games against Tottenham, Chelsea, Swansea and Manchester City during the same month.

As far as Ozil's absence is concerned, a further FA Cup semi-final appearance against Wigan also looks doubtful.

The former Real Madrid man has played 22 games for the Gunners in the Premier League this season, having scored four goals and provided his team-mates with another eight equally important assists.

The manager is already missing the services of midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who is suffering from thigh muscle pain. But the possible returns of left-backs Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal could boost the team's defensive chances.

Midfielder Kim Kallstrom could also make his debut for the club during the match against Tottenham.
