Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has declared that his side are aiming for the full three points against Tottenham Hotspur in the high-voltage north London derby on Sunday.

The Gunners, who defeated Spurs 1-0 in the corresponding fixture at the Emirates Stadium in September, are currently third in the Premier League table with 59 points from 28 games.

And Podolski insisted that it is important for Arsenal to come out with a positive result against Tim Sherwood’s side at White Hart Lane, in view of staying alive in the title race.

The 28-year-old, who revealed that derby games are always special to him from his time in Germany, further added that he is looking forward to Sunday’s crunch match.

"I've always liked derbies", Podolski told via Arsenal Player.

"When I played in [Bayern] Munich, or Koln or even here in Arsenal I always liked derbies because there's a special atmosphere and it's a special fight.

"We want to go there, get the three points and drive back home.

"This is important for us. We must fight for the club, for the fans and I think this is an important game so I look forward to Sunday now."

Podolski, who joined Arsenal from 1.FC Koln in 2012, scored in his side’s 5-2 triumph over Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium last term.
