Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that he is confident about Phil Jagielka’s involvement in his side’s crucial Premier League game against Everton tomorrow.

The Toffees skipper has been out of action since picking up an injury against Chelsea in February.

But Martinez is confident about Jagielka featuring against the Citizens after missing the club’s previous 11 fixtures.

“Phil Jagielka has been recovering well and the plan was always for him to be in the squad for Manchester City, and we are hoping that is going to be the case”, the manager explained to his club’s official site.

“The work that he has done so far shows me that he will be ready for the weekend. I’m quite confident that will be the case.”

Martinez however, is still unsure whether Sylvain Distin will play against the title contenders at Goodison Park.

The centre-back picked up an injury during Everton’s 2-0 triumph over Manchester United on 20th April and was subsequently sidelined from his side’s defeat by the same scoreline at the hands of Southampton last weekend.

“Sylvain came off with a soft tissue problem against Manchester United. He’ll train today and we will assess him to see how he is”, he added.

“It’s very important that Sylvain finishes the season but it’s difficult to say whether he will be involved at the weekend at this stage."

Everton are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 69 points from 36 games, four behind fourth-placed Arsenal with two games remaining in the season.
