Mehdi Benatia’s agent has sought to clarify the speculation surrounding the defender and said that his client has never spoken about leaving Roma.
Benatia’s performances last season for Roma have attracted interest from clubs across Europe and speculation is rife that the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are on the trail of the Moroccan.
Moussa Sissoko, the player’s agent, has come out to diffuse all the rumours surrounding his client and said that he never talked about leaving Roma for any other club.
“Mehdi did not say that he dreams of going to Barcelona, Bayern [Munich] or Manchester City”, the agent told Tutto Mercato.

The 27-year-old’s agent admits that interest from the top clubs is quite flattering for his client but said that the speculation about his future at Roma is a result of a simple misunderstanding.
“It is clear that the interest of these clubs flatters him and this seems like a normal thing. There were a lot of misunderstandings that cropped up after the interview.”
Benatia made 33 appearances for Roma last season, scoring five goals and his contract with the club runs until 2018.
