Cesc Fabregas prefers a move to Chelsea over Manchester United on account of the fact he wants to live in London, according to Spanish daily Marca.

Fabregas’s future has been the subject of constant speculation since it emerged that Barcelona are willing to sell the Spaniard this summer for the right price, mooted to be around €36m.

Chelsea and Manchester United are believed to be the two clubs fighting for the midfielder’s signature and both are willing to offer around the same pay package of €9m to the 27-year-old.

However, Fabregas is inclined towards Chelsea as he wants to return to London. The Spaniard has a mansion in the English capital and he lived in London in his time at Arsenal.

The 27-year-old also wants to play in the Champions League, which Chelsea can offer, but Manchester United will not be playing in Europe for at least one season after finishing seventh in the Premier League.

The Red Devils publicly chased the Spaniard last summer and will be loath to lose out on him again, especially to direct rivals such as Chelsea.

Fabregas spent eight seasons in English football at Arsenal. The Spaniard made 212 league appearances for the Gunners and scored 35 goals for the club before he left for Barcelona in 2011.
