Atletico Madrid are ready to pay around €40m to Juventus to sign Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Spanish champions are poised to lose Diego Costa to Chelsea for €38m, but will reinvest all of the fee in their pursuit of Vidal.

According to Spanish daily AS, Atletico Madrid expect Juventus to accept the offer, although they know they will have to wait until after the World Cup for Vidal himself to make a decision over the move.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is determined that last season's La Liga title victory will not be a flash in the pan for Los Rojiblancos and is already busy in the transfer market.

Atletico Madrid could yet face competition for Vidal's signature, not least from Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Los Rojiblancos also look set to lose goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has finished the third of three season-long loan spells from Chelsea and is not likely to be allowed to return to the Vicente Calderon next term.
