Jose Mourinho has insisted that following the World Cup, Thibaut Courtois will be heading back to Stamford Bridge.

Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid and helped the Spanish side collect La Liga last season as well as reach the final of the Champions League.

The goalkeeper starred for Los Rojiblancos as they knocked Mourinho's Chelsea out at the semi-final stage. And the Portuguese tactician is in no mood to have Courtois on an opposing side once again.

"There is no doubt that after the end of the World Cup, Courtois returns to Stamford Bridge", Mourinho told Marca.

The Belgium international custodian has been unsure on heading back to Chelsea on account of the club's current number 1 being Petr Cech.

Indeed, Courtois has insisted he does not want to sit on the bench while Cech keeps the number 1 shirt.

Atletico Madrid meanwhile are keen to keep Courtois, even though that looks unlikely.
