Diego Costa has explained that his future is at Chelsea, thanking Atletico Madrid for his lengthy spell at the Vicente Calderon.

Chelsea are activating Costa's €38m release clause to render Atletico Madrid powerless to prevent his departure, while the Spain international has already undergone a medical with the Blues.

Los Rojiblancos have taken their time processing the deal though and president Enrique Cerezo has insisted for now Costa remains an Atletico Madrid player.

But Costa has no doubts over his fate for next season.

"My future is at Chelsea", the 25-year-old told Onda Cero.

"Atletico has been my home and I am every grateful to this club", he added.

Costa was originally signed by the Spanish champions in 2007 and sent out on several loan spells before joining Real Valladolid permanently.

However, Atletico Madrid activated a buy-back clause to bring Costa back to the Vicente Calderon in 2010.
