Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has stated that Cesc Fabregas is the kind of player that Chelsea need, not just for his qualities but also for his competitive personality.

The Spanish international joined the Pensioners for a fee in the region of £30m from Barcelona, after his former side Arsenal refused to use their buy-back clause.

The Spaniard is expected to be an integral part of the Chelsea midfield during the 2014/15 season after the departure of England midfielder Frank Lampard.

And with plenty of prior experience of playing in the Premier League, including a stint as captain at Arsenal, the 27-year-old is expected to feature heavily for Mourinho's men.

"Not just for his qualities as a player but also his competitive personality.

"He is a player in the best years of his career.

"He knows England well, he knows the Premier League well, so he will not need time to adapt.

"He is the kind of player who will come and train for a couple of weeks and be ready to prove himself."
