Roma president James Pallotta has categorically ruled out the sale of striker Mattia Destro before the transfer window closes.

Destro has been linked with a number of clubs, including AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, while his agent recently revealed Chelsea are keen on signing the Italy international, commenting: "It's true that Chelsea are interested in Mattia."

But Roma do not want to lose Destro, who they view as a vital part of their attack as they bid to once again push for the Serie A title this term, along with turning out in the Champions League.

And Pallotta has made the club's position crystal clear, stating that the 23-year-old will not leave.

Speaking to reporters he said: "There are no talks [over Destro].

"We have a good attack with Destro and he's not for sale."

Destro's contract with Roma runs until the summer of 2017 and he struck the back of the net 13 times in 20 Serie A games for the Giallorossi last term.

In total Destro has made 49 appearances for Roma since joining the club, hitting 24 goals and providing five assists for his team-mates.
