Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has shrugged off his side's 1-1 draw against Schalke at Stamford Bridge this evening, insisting it is not a bad result.

The Blues started the Champions League contest as firm favourites and duly took the lead with just eleven minutes on the clock through Cesc Fabregas.

But Chelsea could not go on and extend their advantage, missing chances to leave themselves open to a sucker punch, which arrived through Klaas-Jan Huntelaar just after the hour mark.

Post-match Mourinho was staying upbeat and was also in no mood to criticise Didier Drogba, who misfired throughout and missed one particularly guilt edged chance.

"We had more than a couple of fantastic chances to win the game but we got a point. It is not the best result but it is a result", the Portuguese told Sky Sports.

"In the second half they scored, we had a good reaction and I have nothing to complain about with my players. Of course he [Drogba] did his job, he had a good game and a good contribution. He missed the goal by a few inches and that would have been 2-0 but football is like this. Didier Drogba is not crying because of that miss."

Mourinho also insisted he did not have the option of starting Diego Costa, with the Brazilian needing a week to recover between matches at present, meaning he was restricted to a 15 minute cameo at the end.

"Diego Costa is not in condition to play three matches in a week. He has problems when he plays one game, he needs a week to recover and now playing matches Tuesday and Wednesday he can't do it. He was not in a condition to do more than he did."
