Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho does not feel Derby County will be affected by having lost two of their last three games when they take on the Blues in the League Cup this evening.

The Rams host Mourinho's men at Pride Park looking to cause an upset and advance in the League Cup at Chelsea's expense.

Steve McClaren's men have seen their form dip over the last three games with defeats at Leeds and Middlesbrough.

But Mourinho has discounted the importance of those losses.

"The Championship is a league where the top teams in the table have already four defeats, so it is a league where already they know there is a great balance and it is normal for them to lose matches", the Chelsea boss told his club's site.

"If they lose two matches they are out of the top six, if they win two matches they are in promotion positions – so I don’t think they are affected by that."

Mourinho also spoke of his admiration for the Championship, which he feels is an exceptionally tough league.

"The Championship is a very competitive league.

"It is amazing – 24 teams, playoffs, lots of matches including midweek, very strong physical sides and it must be a very hard league for sure."
