Juan Cuadrado’s move to Chelsea has hit a last minute roadblock in the form of a solidarity fee that is due to Colombian outfit Medellin and his former club Udinese.

The winger attended Chelsea’s clash against Manchester City yesterday at Stamford Bridge and was supposed to undergo a medical before joining Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, according to Sportitalia, both clubs are yet to reach an agreement on who will pay the 5% solidarity fee that is due to Medellin and Udinese.

According to FIFA regulations, any club at which a player has played at between the ages of 12 and 23 are entitled to a portion of the transfer fee when a player changes clubs while still under contract.

Though Chelsea are still to reach an agreement with Fiorentina over the solidarity fee, they don’t expect the point of contention to jeopardise the deal and are confident of sealing Cuadrado’s transfer by tomorrow.

Cuadrado is believed to have already agreed personal terms with Chelsea and is just waiting for both clubs to finalise the details of the transfer before he signs on the dotted line at Stamford Bridge.

The winger is expected to take the number 74 shirt with Jose Mourinho's men.
