Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that former team-mate Emmanuel Eboue helped him settle at the north London outfit when he first arrived at the club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the Gunners in the summer of 2011 from Southampton and has gone on to play over a hundred games since for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Eboue, who joined Arsenal in 2005 and moved to Turkish outfit Galatasaray in 2011, has been credited by the England international for helping him ease into the squad during his early days at the Emirates Stadium.

Talking to Arsenal Player, Oxlade-Chamberlain recalled his first training session with the Gunners and recollected the role played by the Ivorian in helping him.

“I remember my first training session; I think I was just coming back from an ankle injury as well.

“As I arrived, my first session was with Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Eboue – just the three of us doing passing drills.

“I remember I couldn’t even pass the ball more than five yards in the first 10 minutes. Eboue made me feel comfortable and welcome with his jokes and his laughing and I settled into it a little bit more.

“It’s been a great experience for me, now I feel like this is home.”

The 21-year-old has come a long way since his early days and has gone on to become a regular fixture of Arsenal first team as well as the England national team.

In his 32 appearances in all competitions so far this season, Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored two goals and assisted a further three.
