Ilkay Gundogan has confirmed that talks over a new contract with Borussia Dortmund are progressing positively, while refusing to be drawn into specifics.

Dortmund recently locked down Marco Reus to a new contract and are now keen to do the same with Gundogan to ward off interested parties.

The midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs, including Arsenal, but is minded to remain with Jurgen Klopp's men despite their struggles in the Bundesliga this term.

"Things are going well", he told German daily Bild, when asked about the status of talks over a new contract.

However, Gundogan will not be drawn on how close he is to putting pen to paper, adding: "I prefer not to say anything."
